What can you do with an Accounting and Finance degree?
This degree prepares you for a multitude of careers, including finance, banking, insurance and the charity sector.

You may find yourself working in a global corporation, a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) or even for yourself –it’s not unusual for company CEOs to come from an accounting or finance background.

Teaching and Modules
You’ll start by developing a broad understanding of, and fundamental skills in financial analysis and management, global and international approaches, business law, and digital and marketing.
In years 3 and 4, you’ll deepen your knowledge and skills in financial management and reporting, encompassing performance management, taxation, governance and auditing, and capital markets and investment.
In Year 4, you’ll also complete a Major Project. As part of an interdisciplinary team, you’ll use everything you’ve learned on the course to address a current issue in business, and present your findings.

What happens on a foundation year?
A foundation year prepares you for the rest of your course, and focuses on general skills such as researching and referencing, numeracy and ICT, and communication. We’ll also start to look at some more subject-specific topics.
How is Accounting and Finance assessed?
We’ll assess your work in a number of ways including exams, coursework, essays and activity-based assignments. Expect, for example, problem-solving activities, consultancy projects, presentations, computer-based exams, a trading simulation portfolio, and group or individual reports. You’ll also be able to access support materials through our learning management system, Canvas.
