You’ll discover how economic theories apply to real world business decisions preparing you with the skills and knowledge for climb the ladder in the workplace. At the same time, you’ll explore big, up-to-the-minute ideas and debates in economics.

On this course, you’ll develop in-demand knowledge and skills spanning economics, business and finance, covering topics including business operations, accounting, and international trade.
You’ll gain practical experience throughout the course through business simulations, case studies, and live briefs. You can also take advantage of our extensive professional network to arrange internships or placements that help you really stand out to potential employers.
What can you do with a Business with Economics degree?
This degree gives you the theoretical and practical knowledge you’ll need to work as an economist, whether that’s in the public or private sector.
It’s also a good basis for a range of related careers in business and industry. You might work for think tanks or charities, consultancies, national or local government, banks, or accountancy firms. Or you may choose to pursue a career in a related field, such as marketing. Roles may include Policy Analyst, Market Research Analyst, Operations Manager, or Economics Consultant.

Our goal is to provide ARU students with the right tools for career planning and successful employment through; an array of career advising services and employability skills programs to support students’ personal and career development to meet employers’ hiring needs. In addition, we build corporate partnerships and liaise with companies to avail experiential and career opportunities and help employers reach and attract the right talent.

Teaching and Modules
Our first-year modules are designed to develop the knowledge you already have, and give you a broad understanding of the key concepts of business and organisational management.
In Year 2, as well as continuing to build your business knowledge and skills, you’ll learn about econometrics, and micro and macro economics.
In your fourth year, you’ll explore applied and behavioural economics, and sustainability and responsibility in business. You’ll also undertake your major project – a substantial piece of research and/or product development work on a relevant topic of your choice.

What happens on a foundation year?
A foundation year prepares you for the rest of your course, and focuses on general skills such as researching and referencing, numeracy and ICT, and communication. We’ll also start to look at some more subject-specific topics.
How is Business with Economics assessed?
All assessment is designed to allow you to demonstrate what you’ve learned, and to make sure you’re developing the knowledge and skills you need to complete the course.
You can expect an interesting mix of coursework, essays, exams and activity-based assignments. Your coursework could include problem-solving activities, consultancy projects, presentations and group or individual reports.
