Accreditation

Our BEng Mechanical Engineering course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer. Students who successfully graduate with this degree may, with the appropriate further learning, meet the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

This course will prepare you for roles including digital media design, web design, social media analysis, content writing, videography, motion graphic art, and interactive design. 

You’ll be prepared for near-future careers like digital culture commentator or designer and follow briefs and challenges that come straight from industry. 

A Digital Media Production degree prepares you for diverse careers in the creative and digital industries, equipping you with skills in content creation, visual storytelling, video production, and digital platforms. Graduates can pursue roles such as Multimedia Designer, Content Creator, Video Producer, Motion Graphics Designer, Brand Content Specialist, while working across agencies, media companies, brands, startups, or as freelancers.

Our goal is to provide ARU students with the right tools for career planning and successful employment through; an array of career advising services and employability skills programs to support students’ personal and career development to meet employers’ hiring needs. In addition, we build corporate partnerships and liaise with companies to avail experiential and career opportunities and help employers reach and attract the right talent.

Teaching and Modules

In Year 2you’ll set up a blog to map your learning journey, giving you a useful resource and toolkit both during the course and beyond. 

We’ll also introduce you to the fundamentals of digital media, and help you develop project management skills. 

In Year 3 you’ll work with practitioners at the forefront of emerging technologies to create new forms of storytelling. 

In your final year you’ll prepare for life beyond university, solving challenging practice briefs or taking an optional work placement, before designing your own final project.

A foundation year prepares you for the rest of your course, and focuses on general skills such as researching and referencing, numeracy and ICT, and communication. We’ll also start to look at some more subject-specific topics. 

Our modules allow you to demonstrate your progress by producing coursework to set projects and formal briefs. At the end of each semester you’ll submit a portfolio of work for practice-based modules, and a written document for contextual/theoretical modules. These will be graded and you’ll receive written feedback. 

You’ll also receive ongoing feedback on your design project concepts and develop your learning in taught sessions, one-to-one discussions, project reviews, peer to peer feedback and group critiques.
