What can you do with a Finance with Economics degree?

You may find yourself working in a global corporation, a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) or even for yourself, it’s not unusual for company CEOs to have started off from an accounting or finance background.
Typical roles may include investment banker, risk analyst, portfolio manager or corporate finance analyst.

Our goal is to provide ARU students with the right tools for career planning and successful employment through; an array of career advising services and employability skills programs to support students’ personal and career development to meet employers’ hiring needs. In addition, we build corporate partnerships and liaise with companies to avail experiential and career opportunities and help employers reach and attract the right talent.

Teaching and Modules
You’ll start by getting to grips with the fundamental knowledge and skills you’ll use throughout your course and subsequent career, covering financial analysis and management, the maths of economics, the inner workings of business, and the role of the law in business.
In years 3 and 4, you’ll focus on developing your expertise in the theory and practice of finance and economics. You’ll develop your analytical and problem-solving skills as you explore increasingly complex and specialist issues, building up to your final-year group project, where you’ll demonstrate everything you’ve learned.

What happens on a foundation year?
A foundation year prepares you for the rest of your course, and focuses on general skills such as researching and referencing, numeracy and ICT, and communication. We’ll also start to look at some more subject-specific topics.
How is Finance with Economics assessed?
All assessment is designed to allow you to demonstrate what you’ve learned, and to make sure you’re developing the knowledge and skills you need to complete the course.
You can expect an interesting mix of coursework, essays, exams and activity-based assignments. Your coursework could include problem-solving activities, consultancy projects, presentations as well as group or individual reports.
You’ll also be able to access support materials through our learning management system, Canvas.
