Mechatronics and Robotics covers the integration of mechanical, electronic and intelligent control sub-systems to realise a complete system, which may be a product, machine or process.

It’s a multidisciplinary subject that employs design principles, processes, models, toolsets and philosophy unique to mechatronics engineers to enable the design and development of simpler, more economical and reliable systems.

You’ll cover a unique balance of key analytical subjects, management and professional skills, ensuring that you’re well-equipped to face challenging engineering situations in industry.

You’ll hear from and meet representatives from across the industry, and be encouraged to join professional bodies.

Accredited course

All our engineering courses are in line with the new Engineering Council requirements (AHEP 4.0). Accreditation for our BEng (Hons) Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering degree has been arranged with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMeche) for when full student output from the course is available.

Applications for relevant international accreditation are in progress for ARU Cairo

Teaching and Modules

Discover the structure and properties of a range of materials, learn structural design, learn how to perform tests, interpret scientific information, explore mathematical concepts and their use in engineering, and the laws and theories you need to apply electricity to your engineering solutions. Gain an understanding of analogue and digital signals and learn why vibration can be such a problem in mechanical engineering systems.

Learn the C++ programming language, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), with a view to conducting research, obtaining test data, building FEA and CFD models, and validating your results from case studies.

Explore, improve, design and build mechatronics systems and products using specialist software packages; assessing feasibility, creating/sourcing the required CAD files, performing FEA and CFD tests, and creating and fully testing your prototype.

Gain an understanding of the concerns of engineers today, including environmental, sustainability and ethical issues, safety, commercial and legal considerations, and quality standards.
